Terence Crawford pulverized fighter who beat a legend into retirement shortly before dismantling Errol Spence

Terence Crawford is ready for the biggest fight of his life as he jumps two weight divisions to meet the face of boxing himself for his undisputed super-middleweight titles.

A win on September 13th would mark Terence Crawford as one of the greatest boxers in recent years, and would surely play into any argument that he is one of the greatest to ever lace the gloves.

Crawford, who showed off his impressive physique recently, is a four-weight world champion and two-weight undisputed champion, and a win over Canelo would make him a three-weight undisputed champion, a feat that is remarkably impressive.

Bud may be going into the fight full of confidence, having never lost any of his 41 fights. The last fight saw Crawford edge out Israil Madrimov to secure a super-welterweight title, and the fight before saw him decimate Errol Spence.

It was the fight before that, though, where Crawford beat a legend-slayer.

Terence Crawford breezed through David Avanesyan in 2022

As the Spence fight hit a hurdle, Crawford was left in need of an opponent to remain active in 2022.

The 38-0 fighter was matched against 29-3-1 David Avanesyan, who had just two losses in the past 13 years, one of which came against Egidijus Kavaliauskas, who ‘dropped’ Crawford in their fight.

Though Crawford was expected to win with ease, he was perhaps not expected to do it quite as swiftly as he did.

Avanesyan only made it halfway through the fight before Bud proved to be far too much for him, knocking him out and leaving him laid out on the canvas.

For Avanesyan, this was a huge fall from grace, as just one year earlier he had stopped the momentum of rising star ‘Pretty Boy’ Josh Kelly, and five years before that had ended the career of a legend.

In 2016, Avanesyan faced Shane Mosley, who has shared the ring with the likes of Manny Pacquiao, Oscar De La Hoya, and Canelo Alvarez.

Avanesyan outpointed Mosley, winning a career-defining unanimous decision.

David Avanesyan’s most recent loss saw champion one-up Terence Crawford

After the Crawford loss, Avanesyan picked up one win, against an 11-55-3 journeyman, before being plunged into a fight with Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis.

Ennis had been set to face Cody Crowley, but an eye injury ruled Crowley out of the fight on medical grounds.

Instead, Boots faced Avanesyan, who took the fight on short notice, and paid the price.

Ennis one-upped Crawford as he forced Avanesyan to quit after just five rounds.
