Sugar Ray Robinson donated almost all of his purse from Charley Fusari fight to the American Cancer Fund

On August 9, 1950, Sugar Ray Robinson successfully defended his NYSAC, NBA and Ring Magazine welterweight world titles inside the Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City, New Jersey, USA.

Robinson dominated the action, keeping his aggressive opponent at bay with his lightning combinations and snappy jabs, even dropping the warrior, en route to winning via unanimous decision.

While his performance inside the ring was mesmerizing, it was how he acted outside of it that really captured the hearts of the fans.

As per The LA Times, he donated all but $1 of his $50,000 purse to the American Cancer Fund.
