Sonny Bill Williams got knocked out by Mark Hunt
On November 5, 2022, Sonny Bill Williams battled it out with Mark Hunt at the International Convention Centre in Sydney, Australia.
Going into the contest, the former K1 world champion, who was 48 at the time, was considered an underdog. Not only had he lost his prior contest to Paul Gallen, but his opponent had an impressive 9-0 record.
The bout started as expected with the younger man tagging ‘The Super Samoan’ with vicious shots.
However, as the rounds rolled by, Williams began to slow down, opening the door for Hunt to get back into the contest.
In the fourth, the MMA veteran landed a crushing blow that sent his rival’s gumshield flying out of his mouth, before connecting with a left hand that scored a knockdown.
Showcasing grit and determination, the favorite got back to his feet. But when Hunt detonated a big right hand, the referee jumped in.
