Oleksandr Usyk has the chance to become a three-time undisputed champion on July 19th against Daniel Dubois.
After relinquishing the IBF title, Oleksandr Usyk is aiming to get it back on 2025’s biggest night of boxing.
The man in his way is none other than his former foe, Daniel Dubois. Usyk stopped Dubois last time out after a controversial low blow earlier in the fight.
Now known as ‘The Brit-Basher’, Usyk has defeated his fair share of British fighters – from Dubois to Anthony Joshua, and Tyson Fury to Derek Chisora to Tony Bellew.
But there is one other Brit who Usyk has punished, just not officially.
Oleksandr Usyk knocked out Dave Allen in brutal spar
In a clip that seems to resurface every few months, Usyk can be seen sparring Dave ‘The White Rhino’ Allen.
Allen admitted to TalkSport that he was out of his depth in Usyk’s training camp, stating, “I sparred him for maybe 40 rounds in two weeks, I didn’t hit him with one shot.”
The infamous footage shows Usyk land a left hook on Allen, who stumbles around the ring before charging towards the Ukrainian.
Usyk embraces Allen to stop him from engaging any further, protecting him from himself. The spar does continue for a few more seconds, though no significant punches are thrown from either man.
Despite the spar, Allen, who was beaten by Luis Ortiz, told TalkSport that he thinks Dubois will be victorious on July 19th.
“I just think it’s about timing really, Oleksandr Usyk’s nearing 40.”
Dave Allen will likely fight for the British title next
In December 2024, Allen was the victim of a controversial loss to Johnny Fisher via split decision. The result was so ill-received that Fisher accepted an immediate rematch.
This did not go well for Fisher, who was knocked out in the fifth round.
Now, despite his 24-7-2 record, Allen is next in line for the British title after David Adeleye has vacated it to fight Filip Hrgovic.
Adeleye won the title controversially after hitting Jeamie TKV as the referee called break, but TKV will be given another chance at the belt with Allen vs TKV being the expected match.
