Nigel Benn began the downfall of his foe’s career as he was left pawing a bloody cut after brutal beatdown

Conor Benn vs Chris Eubank Jr 2 has been announced, but it was 34 years ago today that Nigel Benn showed off his devastating power.

Conor Benn had hoped to make the Benn vs Eubank feud one win a piece when he fought Chris Eubank Jr, but was out of luck, as he took his first loss to his the son of his father’s biggest rival.

Despite the loss, Benn hopes to continue legacy of his KO artist father, ‘The Dark Destroyer’ Nigel Benn, who issued a stunning stoppage win over a durable foe on this day 34 years ago.

Nigel Benn dropped and stopped Kid Milo in 1991

In 1991, after defeating Iran Barkley and losing to Chris Eubank, Benn faced Robbie Sims.

His seventh-round KO win set him up for his next fight, a 10-round contest against Kid Milo.

Milo was 14-4 at the time, having lost most recently to Benn’s bitter rival, Eubank.

Determined to one-up his most-hated enemy, Benn dropped Milo in the third and fourth rounds, before leaving him pawing at a cut on his eye that he’d sustained in the fight.

With Milo on the canvas, the referee was forced to wave off the contest, meaning Benn, who lost to Thulani Malinga, did to Milo what Eubank did, but in half the time.

Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank were both beaten twice by one man

In 1995, 28-3 Steve Collins took on undefeated Chris Eubank, who feared Nigel Benn, for the WBO super-middleweight title.

The Irishman dropped Eubank in his home country, before hitting the canvas himself. The fight was close, but the winner was undeniable. Collins had handed Eubank his first defeat.

The pair rematched in a fight that was even closer, but Collins once again claimed the victory, this time by split decision.

One year later, Collins faced Benn, who, after suffering an ankle injury, withdrew from the fight.

Owing to how their first fight ended, the pair ran it back once more, though the result was not much different, as Benn’s corner put an end to the contest after six rounds. This was Benn’s final fight.
