Katie Taylor won two very controversial fights against the same boxer, years before her rivalry with Amanda Serrano

Katie Taylor controversially defeated a fighter twice, with many believing she lost on both occasions.

Later tonight, the Irish phenom will return to action in a trilogy bout with Amanda Serrano inside Madison Square Garden, New York, USA.

The rivalry between the pair is one of the greatest in women’s boxing history. Despite speculation that her career could be coming to an end, Taylor is ignoring the idea of retirement to fully focus on the task at hand.

However, as big as this series of fights has been, it’s not the only feud ‘KT’ has been involved in.

Katie Taylor arguably lost to Delfine Persoon twice

On June 1, 2019, Katie Taylor battled it out with Delfine Persoon in an enthralling battle.

While ‘The Bray Bomber’ landed the classier shots, she was ultimately overwhelmed by her Belgian opponent’s work rate.

At the end of the contest, Taylor was awarded the victory, much to the surprise of the boxing world.

Following the announcement of the result, on commentary for Sky Sports, Adam Smith, said: “I’m looking around me at ringside and every single pundit from Carl Frampton to David Haye to Paulie Malignaggi to Matthew Macklin, have all got Delfine Persoon in front.”

The rematch a year later was pretty similar, with the part-time boxer, part-time police officer battering her opponent around the ring while occasionally shipping the odd classy shot back.

At the end of the contest, Taylor was once again handed the victory, leaving pundits like Natasha Jonas absolutely stunned.
