Katie Taylor will have to shake off any accusations of her being a “dirty fighter” as she prepares for her trilogy fight against Amanda Serrano.
The Irish boxing champion has already beaten Serrano twice, first in 2022 and then again in 2024, on the undercard for the Jake Paul/Mike Tyson fight.
The second bout was fraught with controversy, with fans in Texas booing the outcome when Taylor was announced as the winner by unanimous decision.
That was partially due to accusations of her cheating during the fight, which Taylor thoroughly denied immediately following her victory over Serrano.

Katie Taylor denied being a ‘dirty fighter’ after headbutt controversy in Amanda Serrano fight
Taylor was accused of headbutting Serrano during their second fight, adding controversy to their epic clash at the AT&T Stadium.
Serrano’s coach accused Taylor of being “so dirty” for leading with her head, causing the opponents to butt heads, which led to the Irish fighter being given a point deduction during the fight.
However, Taylor denied these accusations in the post-fight press conference. She explained how the headbutts were completely accidental and that these things simply happen when a southpaw clashes with an orthodox fighter.
Taylor said: “It just happens sometimes when you’re fighting against a southpaw, especially when the fighter is coming close.
“It was completely accidental. They call me a dirty fighter, whatever, but that wasn’t purposely done. Obviously, I’m in their fighter, and it’s a rough sport, and sometimes you get head clashes.
“You have to fight through those things. This is the fighting game. I fought her twice, and I beat her twice.
“All the judges were in agreement, so I really couldn’t care less what’s been said about the fight. I’m 2-0 against Serrano and I’m very, very happy.”
Errant headbutts are what caused Mike Tyson to see red and bite Evander Holyfield’s ear, so you could say that Taylor got off lucky in this instance.
The winner of Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano could face a UFC legend as their next challenger
The final fight of the Taylor vs Serrano trilogy is set to be an exciting one, but what follows could be even more enthralling as a contest.
Former UFC Bantamweight champion Holly Holm returned to the boxing ring on the undercard of the Jake Paul vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr card with a victory over Yolanda Vega Ochoa, her first in over a decade.
Following that win, Holm was asked about a potential clash with the winner of Taylor vs Serrano in her post-fight press conference.
While she didn’t mention either by name, she did hint at a future fight, saying, “I had a good time, and I’m ready for another one.”
While she is not a top-ranked fighter, a big-money match with a UFC legend may be too much to turn down for the winner of the fight on July 11.
