Joe Cordina dropped one of the toughest fighters in boxing to become a 2x world champion in 2023

Joe Cordina put a dangerous boxer on the canvas during a thrilling fight.

‘The Welsh Wizard’ first conquered the boxing world with a tremendous knockout victory against Kenichi Ogawa.

However, when he couldn’t defend the belt due to an injury, he was stripped, opening the door for a thunderous puncher to pick up the super featherweight title for himself.

Determined to reclaim his strap, Cordina went to war with the power puncher.

Joe Cordina dropped Shavkat Rakhimov

On April 22, 2023, Joe Cordina traded brutal blows with Shavkat Rakhimov at the Cardiff International Arena in Wales, UK.

In the second round, the hometown hero landed a terrific left hand, putting his rival on the canvas.

However, while Rakhimov was down, he certainly wasn’t out.

The Tajikistani rallied back and hurt the Welshman in the fifth round, landing a barrage of shots that forced his opponent to hold on.

However, over the course of the bout, Cordina did the better work, ultimately emerging with a narrow split decision victory.
