Jack Catterall’s last fight resulted in upset split decision loss ahead of Harlem Eubank meeting

Former world title challenger Jack Catterall began his career in 2012 and narrowly missed out on becoming an undisputed world champion.

A split decision loss to Josh Taylor in 2022 would see Catterall fall short of his aspirations of becoming a world champion, as his fellow countryman defended his undisputed status.

The loss would also see ‘El Gato’s’ record fall to 26-1, as his winning streak was snapped.

Following the defeat, Catterall would string together four wins, which included revenge over Taylor and victory against former Devin Haney opponent Regis Prograis.

To earn his spot in another world title opportunity, Catterall fought for an interim title against an unbeaten opponent.

Jack Catterall was narrowly bested by Arnold Barboza Jr. in 2025

With a record of 30-1, Catterall was scheduled to compete for the interim WBO Super Lightweight title in Manchester, England in February 2025.

The vacant title would be contested between Catterall and Arnold Barboza Jr., who had a 31-0 record. Despite the American’s unbeaten record, Catterall went into the bout as a sizeable favorite.

Spoiling the home crowd’s party, as well as Catterall’s, Barboza Jr. was the victor. Outworking the English fighter, Barboza Jr. extended his unbeaten record to 32-0.

The fight resulted in a split decision, as one judge scored the contest 115-113 to Catterall, while the two other scorecards read 115-113 to Barboza Jr.

The win would see the American claim the interim title, setting up a meeting with full WBO World Super Lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez. However, Barboza Jr. would fall short, as Lopez was the victor at a lackluster event in Times Square.

Jack Catterall will face another unbeaten fighter in Harlem Eubank

As Catterall looks to bounce back from his loss to Barboza Jr., he will take on another unbeaten fighter in the shape of Harlem Eubank (21-0).

Harlem Eubank, who has competed on the same card as cousin Chris Eubank Jr., will be looking for his 22nd successive win on July 5th.

The pair will compete in a welterweight headliner in Manchester, as Catterall will ascend a weight division to reignite his world title aspirations.
