Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez dominated Arthur Abraham on a Manny Pacquiao undercard

On April 9, 2016, Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez went head-to-head with Arthur Abraham inside the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

The stage couldn’t have been any grander for the challenger, with his bout taking place right before Manny Pacquiao made the walk to face off with Tim Bradley in the final chapter of their trilogy.

While his opponent was significantly more experienced at the highest level, the younger man dazzled under the bright lights.

Ramirez started quickly, rocking his opponent with a thunderous hook in the second round.

As the fight continued, ‘The Golden Southpaw’ started finding a home for his jab and began confusing his opponent with his movement.

By the end of the contest, Ramirez had proven himself as a sublimely talented operator, winning a wide, unanimous decision.

After failing to win a light heavyweight title against Dmitry Bivol, Ramirez moved up to cruiserweight.

With a 6ft3 frame, he was more than big enough for the division, defeating Arsen Goulamirian to become a two-weight world champion.

Then, he took on an even tougher challenge.

In a terrific display, Ramirez defeated an esteemed fighter to unify the cruiserweight division.
