George Foreman was branded ‘The dirtiest fighter in the world’ by an opponent he knocked out inside the first round

On this day: George Foreman left a boxer furious after finishing him in just two minutes.

In his career, the American cemented his status as one of the heaviest hitters to have ever walked the face of the Earth.

Foreman destroyed Joe Frazier in an excellent performance and stopped Michael Moorer to become the oldest heavyweight champion in boxing history at the age of 45.

And in another scary display, the Texan annihilated his opponent with a massive punch.

Jose Roman called George Foreman ‘The dirtiest fighter in the world’

On September 1, 1973, George Foreman put his WBA, WBC and Ring Magazine titles on the line against Jose Roman, inside The Nippon Budokan in Tokyo, Japan.

Just over a minute in, the champion pinned his rival to the ropes, landing several powerful blows to send his rival crashing towards the canvas. Then, while Roman was down, Foreman landed another spiteful blow.

After beating the count, a dazed Roman was quickly sent back towards the floor, when a huge right hand detonated on his face.

Showcasing his bravery, the challenger rose to his feet once again, but when an uppercut connected clean, his night was over.

As per Boxing News 24/7, following the bout, Roman said Foreman was ‘The dirtiest fighter in the world’.

Roman isn’t the only fighter who’s felt the full force of Foreman’s power over the years.

And the icon didn’t just do damage under the lights, but within the confines of the gym, too.

However, on one occasion, the superstar was hurt himself.

Of course, Foreman was quick to get his revenge.
