Carl Froch admitted one legend dropped him in sparring… ‘He counterpunched me and I walked straight onto it’

Carl Froch once hit the canvas during a brutal sparring session.

In his remarkable career, ‘The Cobra’ proved himself to be one of the toughest competitors to have ever graced the squared circle.

Froch finished Jermain Taylor in the dying seconds of an enthralling battle, and famously knocked out George Groves in front of 80,000 screaming fans at Wembley Stadium.

But as tough as the Englishman was, even he struggled with the ferocious power of ‘The Bomber’.

Carl Froch got dropped in sparring by Tony Bellew

Carl Froch opened up about his experience trading leather with Tony Bellew.

In a testament to his honesty, the former unified super middleweight world champion confessed that the Liverpudlian sent him crashing towards the ground.

In a video uploaded to his YouTube channel in 2023, he said: “He didn’t bully me or anything or try and knock me out – well, he did try and knock me out, and he nearly did once.

“The only person to put me down in sparring was Tony Bellew. I backed him into a corner, threw a bit of a lazy right hand, he counterpunched me, and I walked straight onto it.”

Carl Froch was angrily approached by a furious former world champion
