Wladimir Klitschko backed for heavyweight comeback by legend who says he’s ‘more advanced’ than Tyson Fury

Wladimir Klitschko is more than capable of inserting himself back into the upper echelons of the heavyweight division, according to an icon.

At the peak of his powers, the Ukrainian was a tremendous operator, hurting fighters with his punishing jab, before rendering them unconscious with his powerful right hand.

While it’s now almost a decade since his showdowns with Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, a legend still believes the former world champion has what it takes to make a splash in the sport.

Remarkably, this Hall of Famer has even gone as far as to say, ‘Dr Steel Hammer’ is ‘more advanced’ than ‘The Gypsy King’

Roy Jones Jr. says Wladimir Klitschko is capable of launching a comeback

Roy Jones Jr. believes that Wladimir Klitschko has more than what it takes to make an impact in boxing’s heaviest weight class.

While at 49, the icon’s peak is undoubtedly in the rearview mirror, ‘Captain Hook’ still thinks the athlete is intelligent enough inside the ring to overcome potential opponents.

In a recent interview, Jones Jr. said: “Wladimir Klitschko is big enough to do anything. See, what people don’t realize is that for heavyweights, it is a little easier to make a comeback.

“When you’re that big and you do have power, and IQ-wise, Klitschko to me, is a little more advanced than Tyson Fury. Power-wise, he’s definitely more advanced than Fury. So, why couldn’t he come back?  If he could take the punch, why not?

“But the chin is always gonna be a problem for Klitschko. You know, that was one of his weaknesses in his prime—if you could get to the chin, you could get him. But you gotta get to it.”

And if the all-time great does decide to return to action, he won’t be short of potential opponents. Shannon Briggs would love to settle his rivalry with Klitschko.

While Klitschko is past his prime, at 56, Jones Jr. is even further removed from the peak of his powers.

Despite this, the superstar would still love to have the opportunity to make another ring walk.

And he has the perfect opponent in mind.

Recently, Jones Jr. called out a fellow Hall of Famer.
