How old is Canelo Álvarez?

Canelo is 35 years old, having been born on July 18, 1990. He was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, before moving to Juanacatlan at the age of five.

He is the youngest of eight children, with all seven of his brothers growing up to become professional boxers.

It pits the two Super Middleweight champions against one another in an unfication fight, with Crawford walking into the bout undefeated.

Canelo Álvarez vs Floyd Mayweather

For the first time in his career, Canelo suffered defeat at the hands of Floyd Mayweather in September 2013.

It was a decent performance by Canelo, as he performed admirably and got some good shots in on the undefeated champion in the fight.

Mayweather was 44-0 going into the fight, and he let the Mexican do all the hard work in the fight, not letting him catch him as much as he could throughout the fight.

Canelo only hit 22% of his punches, as opposed to Mayweather’s 46%. The judges recognised this, awarding Mayweather the victory to extend his undefeated streak to 45.

Canelo Alvarez vs William Scull

Canelo kicked off his $400 million deal with Riyadh Seasons with a unanimous decision victory over William Scull in May 2025.

Neither man impressed in quite a dull fight, which saw Canelo become the undisputed Super-Middleweight champion.

Scull was not happy with the judges’ decision and claimed he was robbed in Las Vegas.
