Promoter Bob Arum has teased a possible title unification fight next for Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis with one of the sport’s modern-day greats.
Gervonta Davis is coming off one of his best wins this weekend with a highlight reel knockout, this time over Frank Martin.
The sight of Davis’ opponents lying flat on their backs unconscious is becoming more and more common with only two of his 30 opponents seeing the final bell.
As deadly as Davis may be, his record is still lacking the big names that fans have been calling out for.
The three-weight world champion has had a relatively easy ride to his titles after 30 contests and is still yet to compete in a unification against another world champion.
This could be all about to change according to Top Rank promoter Bob Arum.

Vasily Lomachenko wants ‘Tank’ Davis next say Bob Arum
Vasily Lomachenko and Davis have been teasing a fight between each other since the pair both held world titles at super featherweight, over five years ago.
Davis said after his victory he is open to a fight against a major opponent, in particular Lomachenko.
The Ukrainian won the IBF lightweight title in May by stopping former titleholder George Kambosos in the 11th round.
Bob Arum has promoted Lomachenko since his debut back in 2013 and has always been open to a potential matchup against Davis.
He has now confirmed discussions could take place as early as next week for the fight and insisted his man is up for it.
Arum told Boxing Scene: “(Davis is a) very good, powerful kid, good puncher, and he wasn’t fighting a tomato can.
“We’re up for that fight. Lomachenko’s up for that.
“When we sit down, we will see if it’s feasible, but Lomachenko would like to do that fight.”
Top Rank has two other lightweight champions in unbeaten, three-division belt holder Shakur Stevenson and newly crowned champion Denys Berinchyk, however, Arum thinks Davis’ star power makes him the best fit for a unification with Lomachenko.
“Davis has established a position where he’s good at the box office… a fight with Davis would produce more money than a fight with Shakur,” Arum continued.
“Everything’s up in the air. There’s a lot of possibilities, and possibilities are good, because they keep everyone busy.”
The right time to face Lomachenko
Lomachenko will go down as one of the greats after winning two Olympic gold medals and becoming the fastest man to win world titles in three weight divisions, but the now 36-year-old’s powers are fading.
The three-weight champion has been competing above his natural weight class since 2018 in fights against bigger, stronger men such as Teofimo Lopez and Devin Haney have taken their toll on his body.
Lomachenko openly admitted that his days in the sport are numbered in an interview before his last fight against Kambosos.
“If you are talking about ages in boxing … I’m [an] old man,” Lomachenko told Fox Sports Australia, via Boxing Scene.
“But my career is almost done, of course. How many years it’s going to be, one, two, three, that’s it. But I still think I have a little bit of power. It’s a hard question [when I will retire exactly.]
“At this stage, every fight is hard. It’s hard to recover after fights. I don’t know what will happen with my body after this fight and that’s why I can’t give you an answer to this question [of when I will retire].”
