Johnny Fisher’s team want one more fight before they start to work on a rematch of his controversial win over Dave Allen.
The hard-hitting heavyweights went to war on the undercard of Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk’s world title rematch last month. Allen dropped Fisher in the fifth and seemed to clearly win the remaining rounds, but controversially the ‘Romford Bull’ was named winner by split decision.
Since then, there have been calls for a rematch, although Allen himself believes that it would be unfair on Fisher. And now his coach Mark Tibbs has said that he will likely need one more fight before moving on to a second go around.
Johnny Fisher’s coach details how Dave Allen rematch will be made
After the fight, there were immediate calls for a rematch between the pair given how close the contest was. And while Fisher’s trainer Mark Tibbs is willing to have a rematch, he would rather take their time and get out once more before a summertime showdown.
“We had the fight, it went how it went, and I feel that with how the public feel we owe them a rematch,” Tibbs told Ayman Khan of Seconds Out. “But it would be nice if Johnny could have a fight around February time.
“Then what about a rematch with Dave Allen at Romford Dogs in the summer? How’d you like that? That’s just my dream, I’d love to see Dave Allen vs Johnny Fisher 2 at Romford Dog Track, how great would that be Summer 2025?
“Listen, he’s got to sit down with his management and his promoter Matchroom Boxing and plan that fight I’m sure. But we’ll see and it was a great fight out in Saudi.”
Dave Allen has been contacted over Johnny Fisher rematch
However, Dave Allen seems to think that the fight is coming a bit sooner, with contact already being made over a second fight. He has told Sky Sports that plans are in place for a show headlining in the UK with the pair meeting again, despite him previously noting that it may not be wise for Fisher.

“They’ve already reached out to me about a rematch,” Allen said. “I think I’ll headline a show in the UK next year from what I’ve been told, whether that will actually happen, things are always changing in this game.
“It looks like the most possible next fight for me but other people have also offered me other things. But the Fisher fight is the favourite for me. It’s a fight I’m open to happening. It’s the one on my wish list, but you never know what could happen.”
