Vasiliy Lomachenko has officially announced his retirement from boxing.
Without a shadow of a doubt, ‘Hi-Tech’ is one of the most naturally talented practitioners of the sweet science the world has ever seen.
Blessed with lightning speed, a sensational boxing IQ, and unrivaled movement, the legend carved out a truly fantastic legacy. Lomachenko knocked out Jorge Linares in an incredible fight, dominated Nicholas Walters, and even relieved Gary Russell Jr. of his undefeated record.
With his career now over, the combat sports community has come together to reflect on his remarkable journey.

Vasiliy Lomachenko called a ‘boxing genius’ as he announces his retirement
Earlier today, Vasiliy Lomachenko headed to Instagram to announce that his remarkable time inside the ring has come to an end.
Unsurprisingly, this caught the attention of the final opponent of his career, George Kambosos Jr, who was full of praise for the icon.
He tweeted: “God bless you, brother, in your retirement. Was an honour to be your last opponent and step in the ring with you. An orthodox warrior and a great man. See you at Mount Athos one day, my friend.”
Of course, he wasn’t the only one to react to the news. Host of the Fight Disciples podcast and talkSPORT presenter, Adam Catterall, was quick to remind the world of the fighter’s incredible accolades.
He wrote: “Double Olympic champion, quickest to win a pro world title, quickest to win pro world titles in two divisions, quickest to win pro world titles in three divisions. Spent 2/3 of his pro career fighting blokes much bigger than him. Loma was a violent ballerina. A generational great.”
Furthermore, DAZN presenter, Ade Oladipo pointed out that while some fans may point out the losses on the icon’s record, at his peak, he was ridiculously intelligent inside the ring.
The Brit exclaimed: “I don’t know if boxing history will be kind to Lomachenko… a pro record of 18-3 maybe doesn’t read too well.
“But for those of us who were lucky to have watched all 21 of those professional fights, we knew we were watching an artist in the ring — a boxing genius, who I will miss greatly.
“I’m sad but also happy he has decided to retire. Age, weight, and injuries caught up with him in the end, but boy oh boy did he entertain us all.”
Vasiliy Lomachenko knocked former three-time world champion out with a horrifying right hand
It’s hard to pick out a single Lomachenko performance that stands out more than any other, but in one particular fight, he left the crowd nothing short of mesmerized.
On a night he’ll never forget, the future Hall of Famer went toe-to-toe with a three-time world champion.
While the opponent inside the ring that night was an exceptional boxer, he was no match for the Ukrainian.
In a special display, Lomachenko ruthlessly stopped a boxing legend.
