Veteran boxing promoter explains why Devin Haney will lose his next fight to 28-0 KO artist

Devin Haney is one of the leading stars in boxing today as he has yet to suffer a loss on his professional record.

As Haney is the youngest undisputed champion in the four belt era, ‘The Dream’ has already etched his name into the history books.

Despite already having an established career, Haney is still chasing impressive feats, as he looks to conquer a third weight class.

In his next fight, Haney will make the move to the welterweight division, where he will have to hand Brian Norman Jr. his first loss. However, one promoter does not foresee a win for Haney.

Bob Arum predicts a Brian Norman Jr. win over Devin Haney

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum will be backing his fighter to get the job done against undefeated Haney when the pair meet on November 22nd.

Norman Jr.’s last fight saw him score a knockout of the year contender, as he disposed of Jin Sasaki in Japan in June. As for Haney, he is coming off a highly criticized performance over Jose Ramirez.

Norman Jr. will be defending his WBO World Welterweight title when the pair meet, as well as his unbeaten 28-0 record.

Arum believes that it will be Haney’s unbeaten record (32-0) that will be spoiled when the pair meet. Speaking to Sean Zittel, Arum said, “We think we knock out Haney. Devin’s a very good fighter, but we think Brian is a better one.”

The promoter added, “We like our chances of Brian [beating Haney], but Haney is an excellent fighter, so, it should be an interesting fight.”

When questioned on why he thinks Norman Jr. will prevail against a ‘more accomplished’ Haney, Arum said, “Brian is the young, hot fighter.”

Arum then seemingly took a barb at the finishing abilities of Haney, “Who was the last fighter that Haney knocked out?… He hasn’t had a knockout in a long time.”

Haney’s last stoppage victory came in September 2019, when he defeated Zaur Abdullaev via retirement.

Brian Norman Jr. sends Devin Haney knockout warning

Although Norman Jr. and Haney will not meet until November, tensions have already begun to flare between the pair.

Norman Jr. has sent Haney various warnings about delivering a knockout blow as he is eager to defend his world title.

Speaking to FightHype.com, Norman Jr. was asked what his message was to Haney. The welterweight champion said, “Just be ready. I’m going to throw down, hopefully you’re going to throw down as well. Let’s go get at it.”

Saying he will knock out Haney, Norman Jr. was questioned how he will cause a stoppage. The 28-0 (22 knockouts) fighter said, “Just like any other opponent.”
