Undefeated heavyweight showered with boos after being dropped in highly controversial decision win

Boxing fans around the world couldn’t believe their eyes and ears when it was revealed that Johnny Fisher was awarded the victory against Dave Allen.

Fisher and Allen were on the under card of the Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury rematch and many had expected the Romford Bull to step up and show his talents in this all-British heavyweight fight.

Allen, who had returned from retirement, surprised all however and even dropped Fisher in the fifth round.

It looked to be a clear victory for Allen until the judges’ scored the contest 95-94 to Fisher, 96-93 to Allen, and 95-94 to make Fisher the WBA Intercontinental heavyweight champion.

DAZN broadcaster Sergio Mora branded the decision “Nonsense” as soon as Fisher’s name was called out and it was the same for the fans inside the Kingdom Arena.

Audible boos rang around the stadium and Allen himself looked utterly perplexed by the way the contest had been scored.

Claims that Allen would be a “big step up” for Fisher before they met in the ring were rubbished. That theory was proved wrong.

Many on social media also noticed the reaction of both fighters as Fisher looked as if he knew he had been lucky while Allen felt rightly aggrieved.

Louis Tomlinson, formerly of One Direction also chimed in, declaring his shock that the ‘Doncaster De La Hoya’ had lost.
