Tyson Fury’s promoter explains the real reason he retired

Boxing promoter Frank Warren has been vocal in his support for Tyson Fury’s retirement.

The ‘Gypsy King’ announced his retirement from the sport in January of 2025 and despite fans questioning Fury’s retirement, there are no signs of the former champion returning.

The retirement comes following Fury’s loss to Oleksandr Usyk in December 2024, where the Englishman was bested for the second time by the Ukranian.

Although many feel the back-to-back losses were a decisive factor for Fury, his boxing promter has given his understanding.

Warren has revealed what he feels is the true reason behind Fury’s retirement and if the former champion will ever return to the ring.

Frank Warren reveals the reasons behind Tyson Fury’s retirement

With the skepticism surrounding Fury’s retirement, many people have questioned the true reasoning behind his retirement.

Speaking to Seconds Out, Warren has given his understanding of why the former heavyweight champion decided to hang up the gloves.

Warren mentioned that long periods in training camp preparing for fights would prevent Fury from spending time with his family, likely a factor in his retirement. He also gave particular mention to a significant eye injury suffered by Fury in a previous training camp.

“10 weeks [in training], then he got the cut eye, then he went back to training again, another few months in camp… Then he was in three months of camp for the last fight. It’s a long time and he didn’t get to see his family.”

The boxing promoter would add that now that Fury is retired, he has been able to spend more time with his family.

Tyson Fury will not return to the ring in Frank Warren’s opinion

When asked by Seconds Out if he expected the former champion to return to the ring, Warren said he did not.

“At this moment in time, I don’t expect him to come back.”

Warren also added that he would be happy for the ‘Gypsy King’ not to return, as this would mean the former fighter is content in retirement. “If he’s happy, I’m happy.”

The boxing promoter would then go on to mention the fighter’s achievements in the sport, including mention to when Fury had an incredible moment against Deontay Wilder, and his victory over Wladimir Klitschko.

There was also appreciation shown by Warren concerning Fury’s mental strength. The boxing promoter mentioned Fury’s battle with mental health problems, as well as his weight loss journey.
