Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk were swarmed by the world’s media at Wednesday’s press conference for their fiercely anticipated rematch.
The pair locked horns in a compelling 12-round spectacle last May, when Oleksandr Usyk ultimately became the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis.
His victory arrived after Tyson Fury suffered a standing count in the ninth round, with the formidable Ukrainian then slamming his foot on the gas to secure a split decision.
But still, Fury remains convinced that he had done enough to win, despite receiving some shocking news before the monumental showdown in Saudi Arabia.

Tyson Fury’s wife suffered a miscarriage on the eve of his clash with Oleksandr Usyk
Ahead of their compelling rematch on December 21, Fury and Usyk came face-to-face once again at their media day in London, England.
Usyk illustrated his light-hearted sense of humor by dressing up as Agent 47 from the Hitman franchise, perhaps looking to get an early lead in the pair’s psychological battle.
Fury, of course, is known for dressing up as iconic characters, too, after famously arriving as Batman to his press conference with Wladimir Klitschko back in 2015.
And yet, prior to his rather pleasant media event, the 36-year-old revealed that his wife, Paris, had suffered a miscarriage just a day before his first encounter with Usyk.
“I am not making excuses but she was six months pregnant,” Fury told reporters at Wednesday’s press conference.
“It’s not like a small miscarriage at the beginning, you have to physically give birth to a dead child, on your own, while your husband is in a foreign country. To go through that on your own isn’t good.
“When she said she couldn’t come over, I knew there was a problem. She said she had high blood pressure.
“I asked her what was up and asked her to tell me, but she wouldn’t. So I knew. She never told me she had lost the baby, but I knew.”
Oleksandr Usyk’s manager Egis Klimas sends classy message to Tyson Fury
The two heavyweight’s camps have been at loggerheads since their first clash – originally set for February – got postponed after Fury sustained a cut above his eye.
Usyk’s manager, Egis Klimas, was particularly vocal at the time, expressing his suspicion of whether the Brit’s injury was indeed authentic.
Nevertheless, Klimas has now reached out on social media in support of Fury, following the tragic news of his wife’s miscarriage.
And so, having somewhat come to terms with the loss of his eighth child, the former heavyweight champion will no doubt be looking to reclaim three of his old belts.
