Turki Alalshikh offers surprisingly honest answer to Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois rematch speculation

Ahead of Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury’s enormous rematch in Riyadh, it’s no surprise that Turki Alalshikh is expecting 2025 to be another busy year of heavyweight matchmaking.

Whilst Daniel Dubois might have temporarily moved on from Anthony Joshua, what does the Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority think about a potential rematch between ‘Dynamite’ and ‘AJ’ taking place later in 2025?

Turki Alalshikh doesn’t believe we ever get Joshua vs Dubois rematch

Should Tyson Fury win the rematch against Oleksandr Usyk on December 21, the pair of heavyweight superstars will likely be locked into a trilogy bout until sometime in mid-to-late 2025.

With Daniel Dubois already set to take on Joseph Parker on February 22, there’s a very real possibility that ‘Dynamite’ could end up rematching Anthony Joshua as he waits for a winner to be crowned – as long as he also gets through the popular Kiwi, of course.

Dubois is indeed keen to face Joshua for a second time, admitting to TalkSport earlier in the month that “To me as a fighter, I would have liked to get it on with AJ,” rather than facing a resurgent Parker.

“I wanted to get a final conclusion to that… But I’m just very happy to get out again and defend this belt. I’m sure that might happen down the line, who knows? For now, I’m ready to go.”

Speaking to iFLTV ahead of Usyk vs Fury 2, Turki Alalshikh was asked whether there were any updates surrounding speculation that Dubois and AJ could fight again sometime next year.

“Of course, I want to see it [happen] again, but I don’t think that it will happen again.”

Should Dubois defeat Parker and then set his sights on the winner of Usyk vs Fury, who could Anthony Joshua face for his own return fight? Well, Chinese heavyweight Zhilei Zhang recently hinted that there are already some discussions happening behind the scenes.

“There’s rumors saying that, if I beat [Agit] Kabayel, I will position myself to fight Joshua next… We don’t know how true that is, but hopefully, if that happens, I’ll see him in the ring,” Zhang told BoxNation.

Turki Alalshikh, Frank Warren on Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury trilogy

It’s no secret that the Chairman of the GEA would jump at the opportunity to book a third fight between Usyk and Fury – should ‘The Gypsy King’ equal the score on December 21.

Alalshikh was asked directly by Colm McGuigan whether he wants Fury to win on Saturday evening and what that would mean for 2025 – and you couldn’t ask for more definitive answers.

[A lot of people are saying that you want Tyson Fury to win, for the trilogy] “Yeah.”

[You said that in your head, you think Usyk might win] “Yeah.”

[If Fury does win, will we definitely get the trilogy?] “I will try, I will give them the offer right away.”

Tyson Fury’s promoter Frank Warren has already confirmed that a trilogy fight has been signed, provided neither party decides to hang up the gloves: “It’s contracted, and whatever happens, that will be the case if Tyson wins and providing nobody retires.
