‘Time is up’… Eddie Hearn reveals why Boots Ennis vs Teofimo Lopez won’t happen

Eddie Hearn has revealed recently that Jaron Ennis will move up a weight class, and will not face Teofimo Lopez next.

Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis secured a dominant victory over Eimantas Stanionis in his latest contest, with wins over Karen Chukhadzhian and David Avanesyan before that.

Ennis was reportedly in talks to face Teofimo Lopez, but broke the news recently that he will instead move up from 147 pounds to 154 pounds.

Hearn spoke on the move in a recent interview.

“Time is up at 147″… Eddie Hearn reveals Boots Ennis has outgrown his division

In an interview with Fight Hub TV, Hearn said of the Lopez fight:

“The time is up at 147, unfortunately, and you know, I think that Boots felt sooner or later he was going to unravel.”

“Sooner or later you’re going to underperform and it’s gonna come on top of you because you stayed there too long.”

Of the Lopez fight, Hearn said: “It was an agonizing decision because it was a great opportunity and, I don’t mean any disrespect to Teo, but Boots was a massive favorite in that fight.”

Tim Bradley favored Lopez against Boots. Boots will now be seeking to become a two-weight world champion.

Who could Jaron Ennis face at 154?

Hearn suggested Boots may have one fight against a high-level gatekeeper in the new division before facing a champion.
