‘The Real Daniel Dubois doesn’t want to fight’… Icon insists the powerhouse could’ve gotten up against Oleksandr Usyk

Daniel Dubois gave up against Oleksandr Usyk, according to a former world champion.

On July 19, ‘Triple D’ suffered his second defeat against the pound-for-pound number one.

Hours after Dubois had a pre-fight house party, he was dropped heavily twice by Usyk.

Despite getting back to his feet after the first knockdown, he failed to beat the count after a big left hand sent him spiralling towards the canvas for a second time.

Tony Bellew says Daniel Dubois doesn’t want to fight

Tony Bellew is adamant that Daniel Dubois has no genuine desire to fight.

The ex-WBC cruiserweight world champion insists that had he wanted to, the 27-year-old could’ve beaten the ten count.

In an interview with talkSPORT, ‘The Bomber’ said: “The real Daniel doesn’t want to fight. He starts doubting himself, he starts feeling sorry for himself, and I’m sorry to use these words — this is a fact; this is the third time, he starts looking for a way out.

“He just fell apart if I’m being totally honest. The first knockdown is a strong jab. Then, the second knockdown when it comes, he’s on the floor, looking at the referee.

“Don’t get me wrong, it’s a heavy backhand over the top, and he’s a bit dazed at first, but by the time the referee gets to three or four, he’s clearly looking at that referee, and he’s not getting up.

“I think the questions he needs to answer are, ‘Why am I doing this? Who am I doing it for’? If he’s doing it for himself, believe you me, he gets up.

“What you saw on Saturday night in Daniel is a fighter who takes a really heavy shot and didn’t want to get up.”

Daniel Dubois ‘quit again’ against Oleksandr Usyk, according to boxer

Bellew isn’t the only fighter who wasn’t impressed with the display Dubois produced against Oleksandr Usyk.

Following the contest, another boxer was extremely vocal with what he thought about the now-former IBF title holder’s performance.

Refusing to hold back, this fighter claimed Dubois ‘quit’ against Usyk.
