Tyson Fury has shocked the world of boxing with a surprise retirement from boxing, again.
The ‘Gypsy King’ was enjoying his time off following his recent defeat to Oleksandr Usyk, which was his second consecutive career loss.
There had been speculation around what Fury may do next, with a fight against Anthony Joshua at Wembley Stadium looking the most likely, but, his latest post has confirmed that won’t be happening.
Taking to Instagram, Tyson Fury said it had “been a blast” but the time was right to hang up the gloves.
“Hi everybody, I’m going to make this short and sweet.
“I’d like to announce my retirement from boxing it’s been a blast.
“I’ve loved every single minute of it, and I’m going to end with this. Dick Turpin wore a mask
“See you all on other side.”
As one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time, Fury will go on to have a legacy like no other in the sport.
Not everyone is taking Fury’s retirement seriously however as the heavyweight star has previous history of retiring and returning to the sport.

How many times has Tyson Fury retired from boxing?
There’s a lot of boxing fans hesitant to admit that this really is the end and they have every right to do so.
Fury has been known to retire from boxing in the past and then return out of nowhere.
Before his announcement on Monday (13 January 2025), Fury had retired on two previous occasions.
His first time came in 2013 after plans to fight David Haye fell through after his victory against Steve Cunningham.
That didn’t last long, however, and Fury jumped back into the ring just a few months later against Joey Abell in February 2014.

He then spent three years out of the sport after his win against Wladimir Klitschko in 2015, making his return in 2018.
The ‘Gypsy King’ would return to dominate the heavyweight division again before announcing his retirement after beating Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium in April 2022.
Once again, he would go back on his word, returning for a fight against Derek Chisora in December 2022 and won by third round TKO.
But, back-to-back defeats have seemingly pointed towards the end of the road for someone who will go down in boxing history.
