‘That was an embarrassment’… Mario Barrios slammed in brutal rant by legend for performance against Manny Pacquiao

Mario Barrios has been viciously slated by an ex-world champion for his display against Manny Pacquiao.

On Saturday night, the American retained his title against the superstar via a controversial draw, with fans claiming Pacquiao beat Barrios.

Despite having flashes of success, the WBC welterweight champion still has a long way to go to prove himself as the best fighter in the division.

One icon in particular came away from the contest with a lot of things to say about the 147-pounder.

Mario Barrios was embarrassing against Manny Pacquiao, says Paulie Malignaggi

Paulie Malignaggi wasn’t remotely impressed by the display Mario Barrios produced against Manny Pacquiao.

In a fiery rant, ‘The Magic Man’ refused to hold back from venting his frustrations.

He told Boxing Scene: “The guy sucks, he can’t fight, he didn’t want it, he’s touching gloves every round. Bob Santos couldn’t yell at him anymore. He was trying everything he could to get this guy motivated. When the guy sucks, he sucks, there’s nothing you can do about it.

“That was an embarrassment. It was embarrassing from him, constantly touching gloves, and being friendly.

“I get you get mesmerized by the presence of a great, who you grew up watching, maybe in round one, not for twelve straight rounds, especially when you weren’t that good to begin with.

“At least if you’re good to begin with, you can give the excuse, ‘I was mesmerized’. It’s like, ‘You usually fight better’. No, he usually sucks, and he sucked on Saturday night.”

Manny Pacquiao ended historic rivalry with a devastating left hand in 2006

At the weekend, Pacquiao defied expectations, putting on a tremendous performance, despite being 46 years old.

However, while exceeding expectations, he’s still nowhere near the fighter he once was.

At his best, ‘PacMan’ was nothing short of terrifying.

In 2006, Pacquiao ruthlessly knocked out a massive rival.
