Terence Crawford should avoid making one major error if he wants to beat Canelo Alvarez, according to a boxing aficionado.
On September 13, ‘Bud’ and the Mexican will clash at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
While Crawford brutally knocked out Kell Brook, who had a size advantage over him, the challenge of dethroning Canelo is a completely different kettle of fish.
However, in the eyes of an ex-IBF super featherweight world champion the natural weight difference isn’t something the switch-hitter should focus on.
Sheesh: Terence Crawford would lose to an icon, says a retired boxer

Terence Crawford shouldn’t put on too much weight for Canelo fight, says Robert Garcia
With reports emerging that Terence Crawford is putting on a lot of muscle ahead of his showdown with Canelo Alvarez, Robert Garcia has voiced his concerns.
The esteemed coach fears that the extra size could have a negative impact on the American’s performance.
In an episode of Boxing Scene Today, he said: “With Crawford, I think gaining too much weight and muscle might affect him.
“If they’re thinking of surviving, being able to take a punch, go rounds, and go the distance, they’ll be happy with that.
“But I think Crawford’s natural talent, Floyd Mayweather had it, and Mayweather never needed to gain weight and be heavy to beat those bigger guys.
“We give Crawford a chance because we know how good he is: his skills, his speed, his combinations.
“But if he’s gaining so much weight, he might not have those same skills when it comes to speed and footwork.
“I hope he’s not just training and getting big to survive and go the distance. Maybe that’s a win, maybe he’s thinking, ‘If I go the distance with him, that’s a big win for me’.
“I hope not. I expect Crawford to pull off some rounds and maybe the fight.
“But if he’s too heavy, too big, he’s going to get hit and he’s going to have to exchange punches — that’s where the danger comes in.”
