Terence Crawford reveals he’s only 70% sure he can beat Canelo Alvarez

Terence Crawford is moving up two weight divisions to fight Canelo for his undisputed super-middleweight titles.

Terence Crawford‘s last fight came at super-welterweight, in which he beat Israil Madrimov by a razor-close decision.

Now, ‘Bud’ will move two divisions to challenge for the super-middleweight belts in Netflix’s biggest boxing event to date, which will take place in Las Vegas in September.

Ahead of the fight, Crawford, who is only 155lbs at the moment, revealed he doesn’t have 100% confidence that he can win.

‘We never 100%’… Terence Crawford speaks on uncertainty ahead of Canelo fight

In an interview with Piers Morgan, Crawford was asked: “Are you 100% certain you’re gonna win?”

Crawford responded: “We never 100%, I’mma say 70%. I’m always high on confidence, if you don’t have confidence in yourself, then why should anybody else believe in you?”

Though Crawford might be right about self-confidence, giving himself just 70% certainty will have many fans unsure of his mindset going into the fight.

Crawford is the clear underdog given the weight disadvantages, though Canelo’s drab win over William Scull has caused some questions regarding the Mexican’s state in boxing.

Canelo hasn’t secured a stoppage since 2021, when he beat Caleb Plant in the 11th round.

Terence Crawford and Canelo have one common opponent who they both beat the same way

Both Crawford and Canelo have faced one British legend, who is the only mutual opponent shared by the two.

Amir Khan first faced Canelo in 2016, and was up on one scorecard going into the sixth round. Two minutes and 37 seconds into the round, Khan was put out cold by Canelo with a thunderous knockout punch.

In 2019, Khan faced Crawford, who not only dropped him round one, but stopped him in the sixth, though many called the shot a low one, meaning it was not without controversy.
