Teofimo Lopez takes humorous shot at rival Devin Haney who reacts to collapsed bout

Teofimo Lopez was reported to be meeting fellow star Devin Haney in a 12-round bout in August 2025.

Reports began to emerge online that Haney and Lopez were set to meet on August 16th. However, it has since been confirmed by the Ring Magazine that ‘negotiations have collapsed’ between the pair.

Bill Haney, father of Devin Haney, posted on X on June 3rd, sharing a screenshot of an email stating Lopez was withdrawing from the bout before the fight was officially announced. The social media post has since been deleted.

Following the news, Lopez has posted on his own X account to take a shot at rival Haney.

Teofimo Lopez takes shot at ‘ballerina’ Devin Haney

Hours after it was confirmed that negotiations between Haney and Lopez had collapsed, ‘The Takeover’ took a shot at his potential opponent.

Posting to X, Lopez said, “Instead of facing a ballerina for 12 rounds, I watched @ballerinamovie instead!”

Lopez and Haney shared a card with one another in May 2025 as both men fought to unanimous decision victories.

Former George Kambosos Jr. opponent Lopez was able to defend his WBO World Super Lightweight title against Arnold Barboza Jr. The win increased his record to 21-1.

As for Haney, he was victorious against Jose Ramirez. However, Haney’s performance was met with criticism from fans due to a lack of engagement.

Haney was also active on X in relation to the collapsed bout.

The first tweet from ‘The Dream’ regarding the situation was, “The fight with Teo is not signed! I signed my part & Teo has been stalling. As of today, he has decided he doesn’t wanna fight me. He is officially the biggest [duck].”

Haney also mentioned details of the proposed bout on his social media. He wrote, “I wanted the fight at 147, he wanted the fight at 140. We negotiated to meet at 145, even though he was willing to fight ‘Boots’ at 147.”

Following these tweets, Haney provided quotes to Mike Coppinger of the Ring Magazine to say, “Teo is a ——- duck. No promoter should work with him because he wasted everyone’s time.”
