Sugar Ray Leonard boasts a record of 36-3-1, with wins over Wilfred Benitez, Roberto Duran, Thomas Hearns, and Marvin Hagler.
Sugar Ray Leonard retired in 1997, leaving a career full of entertainment, aggression, and skill.
Leonard was beaten by just three men, and one of them, Roberto Duran, he defeated twice after.
He defeated many skilled boxers, but one man he fought back in 1978, was the father of one of the greatest boxers to ever lace up the gloves.

Sugar Ray Leonard knocked out Floyd Mayweather Sr.
In 1978, Leonard, who stared down Benitez before beating him, faced Floyd Mayweather Sr.
Mayweather was 15-1 at the time, whilst Leonard, who beat up a waiter once, was still undefeated at 30-0. The fight almost went the distance, and but Mayweather was stopped with 44 seconds to go in the fight.
BoxRec states Mayweather complained of a hand injury after the first round, and that The Associated Press reported the fight as follows:
“Aside from the first round, which Mayweather clearly won with good flurries of punches, the only round in which he held his own was the fifth. However, his punches had lost most of their zing by then.”
Sugar Ray Leonard lit up an opponent with supreme hand-speed
In 1979, just a year after defeating Mayweather, Leonard, who dethroned Ayub Kalule, fought Andy Price.
Price was 29-5-3 at the time, whilst Leonard remained undefeated. The fight was a one-sided affair, and Leonard showed why he was so great as he used his talent, aggression, and speed, to dispatch Price in the opening round.
Leonard’s next fight saw him defeat Benitez, the youngest world champion in boxing.
