Dillian Whyte has targeted a clash with domestic rival Derek Chisora, hoping to restore some stability to his career following a frustrating spell of inactivity.
The pair have, of course, already shared the ring, producing two of British boxing’s most captivating heavyweight spectacles in recent years.
In their first encounter, the two sluggers went toe-to-toe in a 12-round barnburner, with Whyte edging a highly contentious split decision back in 2016.
But then, after another 30 minutes of enthralling action, ‘The Body Snatcher’ landed a pulverizing left hook in the 11th round of their rematch to secure a more devastating victory.

Dillian Whyte offers his take on Derek Chisora vs. Otto Wallin
Despite several claims that he should now consider retirement, Chisora will be back in action on February 8 to take on seasoned operator Otto Wallin.
The 40-year-old comes off a unanimous decision victory over Joe Joyce, outlasting the Olympic silver medallist through 10 rounds after flooring him in the ninth.
Wallin, meanwhile, returned to the win column against an obscure opponent earlier this year, following his crushing fifth-round stoppage defeat to Anthony Joshua.
Aside from his loss to ‘AJ’, the 34-year-old is perhaps best known for taking Tyson Fury the distance in 2019, famously causing a lethal cut above the Brit’s right eye.
In fairness, though, the Swede has befuddled several contenders with his awkward movement, most notably outpointing former cruiserweight champion Murat Gassiev last year.
Yet still, Whyte believes that his former foe is in for a long night early next year, insisting that Wallin will take a safety-first approach.
“It’s a silly fight,” Whyte told The Stomping Ground, while also expressing his desire to face Chisora. “We know what Wallin’s going to do – he’s just going to be negative and outbox Derek.
“He’s not going to try and stand and trade, and have an exciting fight with Derek Chisora. No, he’s just been knocked out in his [second to last] fight.”
Dillian Whyte takes on former Daniel Dubois victim this weekend
Whyte will return to the ring this Sunday against Ebenezer Tetteh, whose only professional defeat arrived when Daniel Dubois delivered a destructive first-round finish back in 2019.
But while his opponent is far from a world-beater, the former WBC title challenger is nonetheless hoping to rejoin the heavyweight scene with a statement in Gibraltar.
And so, if both combatants progress through their next outings, there is a strong possibility that we could see a trilogy between Whyte and Chisora next year.
