Times Square will host a unique 4-fight boxing card on May 2 as Ryan Garcia fights Rolando Romero on a big weekend for boxing.
Ryan Garcia was banned for a year from boxing after failing a drugs test in April 2024. The controversial American’s suspension is now up and he is keen to get back to winning ways against Rolando Romero in New York.
He faces former world champion Romero in this hotly anticipated fight, with a rematch against Devin Haney up for grabs if Garcia comes out the winner.
Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming bout.

What time does Garcia vs Romero start?
The first fight on the Garcia vs Romero card is scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM (ET), 3:00 PM (PT), and 11:00 PM (BST) on Friday, May 2 in Times Square, New York.
The length of the fights on the undercard will affect what time the ring walk for the main event fight. However, we can expect Garcia and Romero to make their ring walks at around 9:00 PM (ET), 6:00 PM (PT), and 2:00 AM (BST).
How to watch and live stream Garcia vs Romero?
Garcia vs Romero will stream exclusively in the US and the UK on pay-per-view on DAZN. The fight will cost $59.99 in the US, £21.99 in the UK, and the equivalent of $24.99 across the rest of the world.
Unlike previous fights, this one will not be available to purchase on Sky Box Office.
Garcia vs Romero full fight card
Outside of Garcia vs Romero, Times Square will host three other impressive fights on May 2.
Devin Haney hasn’t fought since losing to Garcia last year, before the latter’s suspension for failing a drug test. That bout was declared a no-contest, so if Haney can beat Jose Ramirez he can potentially book a rematch against Garcia in the near future.
Elsewhere on the card, Teofimo Lopez Jr defends his WBO Junior Welterweight title against Arnold Barboza Jr, and Levale Whittington faces Reito Tsutsumo in a Featherweight division clash.
Here is the full fight card:
- Welterweight – Ryan Garcia vs Rolando Romero
- Welterweight – Devin Haney vs Jose Ramirez
- WBO Junior Welterweight title – Teofino Lopez Jr vs Arnold Barboza Jr
- Featherweight – Levale Whittington vs Reito Tsutsumi
Ryan Garcia says the fight is ‘long overdue’ after viral sparring session video
For the past eight years, footage of Garcia and Romero sparring has been floating round.
The clip, which shows Romero getting the best of his Times Square opponent, has been a constant bugbear of Garcia and he’s happy this fight is finally happening so he can put that memory to bed.
Garcia said: “It’s one of those things that’s just never left my career, you know, no matter what I did they’re just always running that. So I’m happy this fight’s finally happening.”
Romero agreed, stating the fight is: “Long, long overdue.”
The duo will finally get to face off in a proper match on May 2 in Times Square.
