Ryan Garcia offers warning to Terence Crawford ahead of Canelo Alvarez fight: ‘I see that happening…’

The latest party to weigh in on this month’s super fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford has some words of warning for the challenger.

A former enemy of undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez, Ryan Garcia is the latest high-profile star in the boxing world to weigh in on the Mexican’s monumental showdown with the unbeaten Terence Crawford.

Himself linked with a blockbuster return to the ring to fight former world champion Manny Pacquiao this week, ex-interim WBC lightweight champion Garcia has offered his assessment of the blockbuster pairing in Las Vegas.

As far as the Californian is concerned, there’s only one real, clear path to success for Crawford — one he doesn’t see the Nebraska star traversing all that well.

Ryan Garcia offers prediction for Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford

Never one to mince his words, former gold holder Garcia admitted he envisions some success come fight night for Crawford in his spectacular title affair with Canelo.

However, as far as he’s concerned, an early onslaught from the ex-welterweight champion will prove in vain, as he picks Canelo to “impose” his will late on in the super fight.

“Bud’s (Terence Crawford) going to do good. He’s going to do good, but I don’t think he’s going to win,” Garcia said on Cigar Talk.

“But I do see Bud like getting a lot of punches off, being able to tag Canelo with some shots, but they have no effect. That’s the thing.

“It’s so ineffective that what he’s (Canelo Alvarez) doing is just him imposing himself too well. And I still — I see that happening,” Garcia continued.

Furthermore, with his immediate future at super middleweight already cause for discourse, Crawford has been warned about who potentially awaits him in a welterweight return.

Eddie Hearn warns Terence Crawford about Jaron Ennis clash

Interestingly, one star preparing Canelo for his fight with Crawford is incoming WBA title eliminator challenger Jaron Ennis — who has been sparring with the Mexican ahead of the showdown.

But with his decider against Uisma Lima fast approaching next month, Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has warned Crawford that a fight with ‘Boots’ is on the horizon should Philadelphia star prevail.

“He’s (Jaron Ennis) fighting a final eliminator for the WBA title [against Uisma Lima], which puts us as mandatory to Terence Crawford,” Hearn told The Ring. “Now, obviously, he may never fight again at ’54 [pounds], but he has not vacated his title yet.

“If I’m Terence Crawford, I’m vacating now,” Hearn explained. “Because when we become mandatory, we’re calling that fight on, and then he’s gonna have to vacate the belt once ‘Boots’ is mandatory. That’s not a great look.”
