Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney get opponents for their comeback fights on the same card

Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney will not be one another’s next opponents. However, plans are in place to make the highly anticipated sequel.

When Garcia and Haney met for the first time in 2024, a shock underdog victory would turn into a no-contest result. ‘King Ry’s’ win would be overturned due to him failing a drug test, ultimately leading to a 12-month suspension from boxing.

Due to the controversy of the bout, fans have been eager to see the two step into the ring together again. Although Haney explained the issues that could prevent the Garcia rematch, progress appears to be being made.

It is understood however that they will both face different opponents in their comeback bouts.

Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney to compete in separate bouts in May

It has been reported by Salvador Rodriguez of ESPN KnockOut that both Garcia and Haney will compete in New York City in May, but will not face one another.

Garcia is reported to be taking on Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz, who has a professional record of 26-3-1. Cruz is currently scheduled to fight on February 1st, as he will compete on the undercard of Benavidez vs Morrell in Las Vegas.

It had been reported that Cruz was one of the 16 fighters whom Turki Alalshikh held fight negotiations with recently.

Haney is understood to be facing Jose Ramirez on the same card that Garcia will compete on. Boasting a record of 29-2, Ramirez is the former WBO and WBC World Super Lightweight champion.

Turki Alalshikh sets timeline for Ryan Garcia vs Devin Haney rematch

Posting on his X account, Saudi Arabian advisor Turki Alalshikh has given his thoughts on the best possible timeline for Garcia and Haney to rematch.

“It is easy… [Garcia and Haney] fight in May, then the big rematch in October,” said Alalshikh.

It was also mentioned in the tweet that Alalshikh expressed interest in featuring a bout between Teofimo Lopez and Jaron Ennis on the card in October. Then, looking forward to February, he plans to schedule the winner of Garcia vs Haney against the winner of Lopez vs Ennis, with the losers also facing one another.

There are currently no specific dates for either Garcia and Haney’s return, or a potential rematch in October.
