Roy Jones Jr. shares his verdict on Wladimir Klitschko comeback talk and potential Tyson Fury rematch

Roy Jones Jr. is fully behind the idea of heavyweight legend Wladimir Klitschko making a comeback.

‘Dr Steelhammer’ hasn’t fought since suffering an 11th-round KO loss against Anthony Joshua in 2017.

However, there’s recently been talk about him returning to the ring. IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois, who beat AJ in September, was originally touted as the man who would welcome Wladimir Klitschko back to boxing.

‘DDD’ has since been booked to face Joseph Parker on February 22. Now Tyson Fury has become the frontrunner to face the Ukrainian, provided he gets revenge in his WBO, WBC, and WBA title rematch with Oleksandr Usyk on December 21.

Tyson Fury vs Wladimir Klitschko 2?

Tyson Fury ended Wladimir Klitschko’s decade of dominance when they fought in 2015.

‘The Gypsy King’ shocked the world by easily outpointing his opponent as a heavy underdog.

An immediate rematch was scheduled but never came off. Now there’s talk about them finally running it back and Roy Jones Jr. is fully behind the idea.

“Why shouldn’t Klitschko come back?” Jones said during an interview with Covers.

“Why not face Fury? It’s not like Fury is a killer puncher. I don’t know if Klitschko can win, but I think he has a chance.

“It just depends on how much his body has aged. But he has a chance. You have to remember the Klitschko brothers are very strong, very good boxers. They’re intellectual guys who took great care of their bodies, so they should be fine to fight at any age.”

Turki Alalshikh wants Wladimir Klitschko back

The most powerful man in boxing is desperate to see Klitschko try to make history by becoming the oldest heavyweight world champion of all time.

“The result of Tyson vs Usyk, a lot of people are waiting for them,” Turki Alalshikh told DAZN.

“One of them is Dubois. Another is Joshua. At the same time, there is a third person. I am dreaming of seeing this fight to give chance if he accepts to give Klitschko to give back to be the oldest heavyweight champion ever. To give him the chance. This is perfect.”

“Of course, he won’t fight Usyk if he wins because they’re two heroes from Ukraine will not fight each other.

“This is the dream. Fury has a lot of people that want him in the line. Klitschko, all the people want to see it from 2015 again, and there’s also Joshua, which would be the hugest Britain fight ever [against Fury].

“Of course, Dubois deserves this chance. Let’s see.”
