Prince Naseem Hamed’s son floors opponent three times in first-round demolition job on KSI card

Like father like son. Sami Hamed, son of legendary boxer ‘Prince’ Naseem Hamed, has won his second professional boxing match.

Now 2-0 as a pro, Hamed came up against 40-year-old debutant Zachary ‘Ziggy’ Johnson on the Misfits Boxing undercard of Darren Till vs. Anthony Taylor. The welterweight fight was scheduled for four rounds, but Hamed only needed just over a minute to secure the knockout.

Sami Hamed knocks out Zachary ‘Ziggy’ Johnson in the first round

Johnson came out aggressive, but poor footwork put him on the end of Hamed’s right cross. It was an open-stance fight, and as an orthodox fighter, Johnson stepped inside Hamed’s lead leg. After recovering from an eight-count, Johnson landed a decent 2-3.

Hamed replied with his own combination, which sent Johnson to the canvas. The fight went to the ropes, where the young buck traded blows with Johnson and secured a knockout finish.

The result comes a month after Hamed’s brother, Aadam Hamed, won his fifth professional fight against comparatively better competition.

Zachary Johnson is 1-8 in professional fights

Hamed’s victory wasn’t frictionless despite securing the knockout in the opening frame. Johnson landed some good shots, which could be damning for the ‘Prince’ protégé, given Johnson’s professional record.

Johnson started out in MMA, losing back-to-back amateur fights by finish. He debuted in professional MMA in 2019, losing again by TKO in the first minute of the first round. ‘Ziggy’ then transitioned to boxing, where he lost five more fights (and one undisclosed), before moving on to kickboxing and exhibition boxing.

Before facing Hamed, Johnson lost eight of nine professional fights, all by knockout.
