Joseph Parker has received approval from the WBO to defend his interim belt against Derek Chisora in a trilogy bout.
The first encounter between the pair was very close. Chisora dropped and arguably beat Parker. However, in the second bout, the former world champion bounced back, dominating the Brit to win comprehensively on the cards.
Regardless, WBO President, Gustavo Olivieri, told Sky Sports: “Yes, Parker may defend his interim title against any of the top-15 WBO world-rated contenders.”
The New Zealander’s promoter, David Higgins, added: “I’m sure he would be [open to a third fight], yes.”
This potential match-up has received a negative response from fans. One tweeted: “Pathetic really, isn’t it?” Another added: “The trilogy no one asked for,” while a third individual wrote: “That’s ridiculous, easy win for Parker.”
