Oscar Valdez has taken to social media following his brutal stoppage loss at the hands of Emanuel Navarrete.

Despite a spirited effort, the 34-year-old eventually fell foul to his opponent’s power, losing via KO in the sixth round.

last night, at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona, USA, Oscar Valdez went to war with Emanuel Navarrete in an eagerly-anticipated rematch for the WBO super featherweight title.

Having lost the first contest via unanimous decision, the brawler was determined to earn his redemption and become world champion once again.

Alas, despite his best efforts, it wasn’t to be. Inside the opening round, Valdez hit the canvas following a ruthless combination from his rival.

The Mexican rose to his feet, but found himself on the ground again in the fourth after a right hand detonated on his chin.

Showcasing his fighting spirit, Valdez made the ten-count, but in the fifth, he was sent spiraling towards the ground after the champion connected with a beautiful uppercut.

Impressing the crowd, the former featherweight King once again stood up, doing everything he could to stay in the contest.

But when Navarrate delivered a dynamite body shot, Valdez could fight no more.

While he didn’t get the victory, the legend walked away from the contest, with the respect of the pundits, who were impressed by his ability to refuse to give up.

In addition, he also showed a great deal of class, congratulating his countryman on the win.

Following the contest, he headed to Instagram to wish Navarrete well.

He posted: “The attempt was made. I want to thank everyone who supported me. My respect to the champion.”
