Oscar De La Hoya has made a weekly habit of lambasting Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn and super middleweight king Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.
The two-time Hall of Fame inductee is widely regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time, claiming an Olympic gold medal before becoming a six-division world champion.
In the professional ranks, he swiftly cemented himself as the sport’s biggest star, earning the lion’s share in his lucrative showdown with Floyd Mayweather.
And now, while conducting his business outside the ring, Oscar De La Hoya continues to exchange barbs with his fiercest rivals.

Oscar De La Hoya puts an end to his ‘Clapback Thursday’ videos
Over the past few weeks, De La Hoya’s ‘Clapback Thursday’ videos on social media have been a source of entertainment for the vast majority of boxing fans.
For the most part, the Golden Boy promoter has targeted Eddie Hearn and Canelo Alvarez, pouncing on any opportunity to poke fun at them.
De La Hoya, of course, promoted most of Alvarez’s career-defining fights, before the pair’s relationship took an almighty hit.
Now, the former friends rarely see eye to eye, with Hearn, too, becoming one of the legendary fighter’s most notable enemies in the sport.
At first, De La Hoya would merely criticize the Brit’s matchmaking ability, while also sending a stern “f*** you” to Canelo at any given moment.
In his most recent ‘Clapback Thursday’ video, though, the 51-year-old accused Hearn of having an affair with one of his female fighters.
And so, after the controversial social media post was subsequently taken down, De La Hoya has now announced that he will pump the brakes on his antics.
On X, he said: “Due to haters/robots reporting Clapback Thursday I will not waste my precious time speaking the facts only to have it removed.
“Happy holidays and let’s make CBT [Clapback Thursday] great again in 2025.”

Fans react to Oscar De La Hoya’s announcement
Clearly, De La Hoya’s jibes at Hearn and Alvarez have escalated to the point where they are now deemed unacceptable.
But still, several boxing fans, who were expecting to watch the latest edition of ‘Clapback Thursday’ at some point today, remain largely disappointed with the promoter’s announcement.
One fan said: “I enjoy your show please don’t stop it makes me laugh.”
Another fan added: “Damn Oscar, I’d been looking forward to it all week.”
Someone else said: “Nooooooooooooooooooooo. That was my favourite segment of the week. F*** the haters Oscar. Keep it going.”
