Olympic boxer vows to ‘bring back them Ricky Hatton days’ as he signs with Matchroom ahead of pro debut in 2025

Matchroom Boxing could have another homegrown British superstar on their hands, with Eddie Hearn’s global boxing promotion officially announcing the signing of GB Olympic athlete, Patrick Brown.

Brown is set to make his professional debut in 2025 and given the amount of promotional material that went into his signing, it’s safe to say that Matchroom is backing the Mancunian to be a future champion.

Olympic boxer Pat Brown officially signs with Matchroom ahead of pro debut

Fresh off his Parisian adventure at the 2024 Olympic Games, British juggernaut Patrick Brown has officially signed to Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing ahead of his cruiserweight debut next year.

“This is a signing that I’m incredibly excited about,” said Hearn on his latest big-money acquisition: “All of us at Matchroom truly believe that Pat Brown has it in him to become a star of British Boxing.

“With Pat’s all-action aggressive style inside the ring and down to earth personality outside of the ring, I’m confident that he can bring back the massive nights to Manchester.

“He’s an incredibly popular young man and has the ability to sell-out arenas in Manchester and beyond in years to come.”

Brown has been honing his craft since the age of seven at Sale West Amateur Boxing Club, the same gym where fellow Mancunian Ricky Hatton got his start – something that Brown was keen to drive home as he celebrated the multi-year deal.

“Matchroom were always my first choice, but you have to weigh up all of your options. After really exciting discussions about the future, it was a no brainer to go with them… They are at the pinnacle of boxing and have a great stable of fighters, and I am excited to be the next generation to dominate over the next decade.

“There’s some huge fights to be made and my dreams have always been to sell out arenas, to bring back them Ricky Hatton days in Manchester… That’s what always gets me going, to have some good wars and good boxing fights – Watch this space, I’ll be coming for it all.”

“Boxing is just my life,” Brown stated in the announcement video that accompanied the press release, with fans keen to see whether the 25-year-old can deliver the excitement that he’s promised to bring the Matchroom roster in 2025.

“My fighting style would be aggressive; speed [and] power, the lot – in the middle of the ring ready to go whenever, I don’t mind having a bit of a tear up, that’s my guilty pleasure.

“It’s a massive dream for me to fight at Old Trafford. Being from Manchester as well, it would be a great privilege to box there… I’ve been here my whole life, but I’m home now.”

We’ll have to wait and see if Brown makes an appearance at this weekend’s fantastic Matchroom Boxing card in Birmingham, headlined by Sunny ‘Showtime’ Edwards vs Galal Yafai, exclusively on DAZN.
