‘Not a concern at all’… Conor Benn dismisses claims he is at a disadvantage versus Chris Eubank Jr.

Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr. will finally meet in 2025, as their intense rivalry continues to brew.

The tension between the pair stems from their fathers, who had a fiery brace of boxing fights in the past. The rivalry even included Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank signing their contract on live television, something their sons have been urged to do by fans.

Benn vs Eubank Jr. was confirmed by Saudi Arabian advisor Turki Alalshikh, who said the fight will take place in April at a venue in London.

Although an exact date and venue are not yet confirmed, an official announcement is expected in the coming weeks.

Benn will return to the ring for the first time since February 2024. Meanwhile, Eubank Jr.’s last fight allowed him to claim the IBO World Middleweight title, defeating Kamil Szeremeta via TKO.

Conor Benn dismisses weight disadvantage as decisive factor

Benn, who has mostly fought at welterweight, will be competing in the heaviest weight class of his career so far when he faces Eubank Jr.

Moving up to middleweight, the fight with Eubank Jr. will take place two weight classes above Benn’s regular division.

The fight will take place at a more natural weight class for Eubank Jr., who has spent the majority of his career competing at middleweight and super middleweight.

However, despite Eubank Jr. seemingly being the bigger man, Benn does not feel it will be an influential factor in the fight.

Speaking on Ariel X Ade: The Boxing Show, Benn said, “Me jumping up two weight divisions, I don’t feel like that’s going to be an issue for me whatsoever.”

Benn said that he can see why other people may see it as a disadvantage but feels his training has prepared him for the move. “I spar light heavyweights, I spar super middle[weights], I spar middleweights, so for me, it’s not a concern at all.”

In terms of his mindset going into the fight, Benn feels that he has his “buzz” back and that he is in a much stronger place mentally than he was for his last two fights.

Conor Benn makes prediction for Chris Eubank Jr. fight

Speaking to Ade Oladipo, Benn was asked how many rounds he expected his fight with Eubank Jr. to go.

Benn replied by saying, “I’ll come out very sharpish out the trap. I just can’t see it going past four or five [rounds].”

The British fighter would then go on to dismiss his last two fight performances in bouts that were “meaningless.” Benn added “Even off the back of my fight with Rodolfo Orozco, I smash Eubank [Jr.] to pieces in four rounds.

Benn admitted that he had no adrenaline for his previous two outings and claimed he knew he was going to win the fights prior to stepping in the ring. The last two outings would see Benn defeat both Orozco and Peter Dobson via unanimous decision.
