‘My apologies Usyk…’ Shakur Stevenson in awe of Oleksandr Usyk’s victory against Tyson Fury

Oleksandr Usyk proved once again why he is one of the best boxers of all time after defeating Tyson Fury for a second time.

Usyk came into the fight looking to inflict a second career defeat on Fury after their previous meeting back in May.

Known as one of the best pound-for-pound boxing stars, the Ukrainian was involved in another close-fought encounter but emerged victorious after all three judges scored the bout 116-112 in his favor.

Tyson Fury was left bewildered by the result and stormed out of the ring early while Usyk insisted that he could not change how the judges perceived the fight.

There was plenty of reaction online as Anthony Joshua was criticized for his Usyk vs Fury scorecard but one person who was left impressed was Shakur Stevenson.

Stevenson is well known for posting his thoughts throughout big fights and that was no different on Saturday.

“My apologies Usyk u different!!!” he wrote.

Shortly after the fight, Stevenson admitted that he thought the fight was much closer than he predicted but there was only one clear winner on the night.

He added: “Yeah maybe not as wide but I thought Usyk was the clear winner.”

Oleksandr Usyk responds to scorecard verdict

Frank Warren was one of many to be left confused by the outcome of the scorecard and even brought his own into the ring to try and make the claim that they were wrong.

Oleksandr Usyk himself was also asked about the outcome of the fight and the Ukrainian said: “I win, it’s good. I’m not judge, I am a sportsman and athlete.

“My win. I train, good prepare. My wife helps me and my children. It’s a very happy day, my boys win competition too in judo. A great fight, a great opponent, a great 24 rounds.”

Fury meanwhile was caught backstage and suggested that he felt he had won by three clear rounds.
