Moses Itauma reveals what he must do before facing Filip Hrgovic or Martin Bakole

Moses Itauma delivered another devastating knockout against Mike Balogun on the undercard of Josh Taylor vs Ekow Essuman.

Moses Itauma has continued his run of destructive performances as he dropped Mike Balogun in the first round and stopped him in the second of their heavyweight contest. Itauma’s KO of Balogun was another brutal one.

Itauma’s last fight before facing Balogun saw him stop Demsey McKean inside a round, something that took Filip Hrgovic 12 rounds to do.

Fans of the sport now hope to see Itauma in with a big name such as Hrgovic or Martin Bakole, but Itauma has mentioned one thing he needs to do before facing these big names.

Moses Itauma needs more rounds before facing the top names in the division

Itauma said in an interview with BoxNation that he would like a fight in which he will be tested and given more rounds before stepping up against the bigger names in the division.

He said: “I need a fight to go past eight rounds and then yeah I can work on them fights. […] End of the year, beginning of next year.”

Frank Warren has suggested Hrgovic may be a good opponent for Itauma soon, and Bakole has also been mentioned alongside Itauma recently. Bakole was ringside for his fight against Balogun.

Itauma’s last eight fights have seen him fight just 11 rounds, with seven of his 12 fights ending in the first round, and three ending in the second. Itauma has gone the distance twice.

Moses Itauma will fight on Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois undercard

In the same interview, Itauma, who KO’d Mariusz Wach, is told: “Moses, looks like you’ll be out in July, on the Wembley Stadium card.”

Itauma responded: “You know more than I do.”

It is unclear who he will face in July, though on a card as big as Usyk vs Dubois, it will surely be a step-up in competition.
