Mike Tyson vs. Floyd Mayweather fight ripped by veteran promoter: ‘It’s madness’

In one of the most surprising pairings in recent memory, Mike Tyson is set to take on Floyd Mayweather in an exhibition clash. However, the clash has its fair share of naysayers.

Set to share the ring in an exhibition boxing match next spring, former undisputed world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson will take on the unbeaten former multi-division world champion Floyd Mayweather.

And making his return for the first time since his controversial fight with the outspoken Jake Paul in December of last year, Tyson will meet historic rival Mayweather on a date yet to be confirmed.

Dividing opinion already ahead of the clash, a veteran promoter has described the exhibition clash between the duo as “madness”.

Kalle Sauerland weighs in on Mike Tyson vs. Floyd Mayweather clash

Offering his thoughts on the showdown, veteran German promoter Kalle Sauerland has offered his opinion on the polarizing pairing of Tyson and Mayweather.

As far as the Wasserman leader is concerned, the clash of Tyson and Grand Rapids star Mayweather is “madness”.

“Yeah, madness,” Sauerland told IFL TV. “You know, I’m not going to throw stones in a glass house. I don’t know who’s doing it, good luck to them.

“You know, Mike did say [after his fight with Jake Paul] that it wasn’t his last fight, I was like, ‘What?’,” Sauerland continued. “…When we find out the rules, we’ll know. You know, does Tyson have to fight on one leg? Does Floyd get eight-ounce gloves and Tyson get 18-ounce gloves?

However, Sauerland’s comments on throwing stones in a glass house may allude to his recent plans to pit a former UFC championship challenger with a Hall of Famer boxer.

Darren Till vs. Carl Froch receives promising update

Returning to headline Misfits Boxing 22 last weekend, former Octagon star Darren Till turned in his third boxing win of the year, stopping Luke Rockhold with a savage knockout win.

And afterwards, the Liverpool native staked his claim for a grudge fight with former super middleweight champion Carl Froch, who sat front and center in Manchester.

With opinions split on that clash, too, Sauerland revealed he was hopeful of striking a deal with Froch to snap his 11-year retirement to fight Till potentially as soon as December.

“We’ve had a chat, yeah,” Sauerland told Boxing News after Misfits Boxing 22. “I’ve made a lot of fights with Carl Froch over the years, two (Mikkel) Kessler fights, (Arthur) Abraham, George Groves at Wembley Stadium, so I’ve done a few [fights] with Carl.

“I think we can get it [a fight with Darren Till] done, but we’ll see,” Sauerland explained
