Mike Tyson has shared the ring with some of the most dangerous heavyweights to have ever walked the face of the Earth, yet even he would be scared to go toe-to-toe with one of the champions of today.

‘Iron Mike’ was an undeniably terrifying boxer, but he’s confessed that this icon would leave him shaking in his boots.

Mike Tyson would be afraid to fight David Benavidez

At the peak of his powers, Mike Tyson was a truly frightening individual, with Earth-shattering power in his hands.

However, with the legend now likely done with boxing, unless another bizarre fight similar to the Jake Paul situation, rears its ugly head, he’s able to watch the next generation excel in the ring with his own legacy already assured.

And one boxer who’s caught his attention is none other than David Benavidez.

The WBC interim light heavyweight world champion, is a brutal operator in the squared circle, capable of rendering opponents unconscious with his lightning combinations.

His performances have been so impressive, in fact, that even the great ‘Iron Mike’ confesses that he wouldn’t be keen to take on the 27-year-old if he were around today and they were in the same weight division.

The former heavyweight King told ES NEWS: “He’s so underrated but so over-polarised here. Listen, I’d be afraid to fight him, too, if I was in that division.

“No one even has a chance against him, and I’m talking facts.”

When is David Benavidez fighting next?

With Tyson giving him such a glowing review, boxing fans will likely be excited to watch the gifted athlete’s next contest.

Benavidez is scheduled to take on David Morrell for the Cuban’s WBA light heavyweight championship belt.

The match-up will take place on February 1 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
