Manny Pacquiao’s potential next opponent could be stolen by a hungry Brit seeking redemption

Manny Pacquiao proved age is just a number as he went toe-to-toe with a world champion at the age of 46.

Manny Pacquiao was unlucky not to get the decision in his latest contest against Mario Barrios, and has now been unsuccessful in two comeback attempts, with his last win being in 2019.

Despite this, Pacquiao has vowed to fight on, and seemingly has his sights set on another path to his 13th world title, a man who was recently elevated to world champion in the wake of Jaron Ennis vacating his belts.

Pacquiao’s name and notoriety bring with it a lot of eyes and a lot of cash, but this potential opponent could go another route entirely, as he’s just been called out by a tough British opponent.

Manny Pacquiao could lose the Rolly Romero fight to Jack Catterall

It has been reported that Pacquiao is eyeing Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero to be his next opponent after Romero was elevated to world champion.

Romero’s latest fight saw him hand Ryan Garcia his second career defeat in a highly-criticized performance from the social media sensation.

He has lost to just Isaac Cruz and Gervonta Davis, and would likely be the favorite against Pacquiao due to his youth and hard-hitting punch.

Whilst Romero would likely choose Pacquiao as his next opponent due to the purse it will net him, there is another challenger who has recently called him out – Jack Catterall.

Catterall told Boxing Social, “I’d love the Rolly Romero fight. I think stylistically he’ll come, he’ll try and knock me out, which works perfect for me.”

Jeff Mayweather likes Pacquiao vs Romero, and believes Pacquiao has what it takes to win. Pacquiao’s longtime sparring partner, Rashid Holloway, thinks Pacquiao ‘bulldozes’ Romero, too.

Jack Catterall could face the winner of first all-Irish world title fight

Next month, Lewis Crocker will rematch Paddy Donovan in the first ever all-Irish world title fight.

Following Ennis’s vacating of the belts, the IBF world title will now be on the line for the much-anticipated rematch.

The first fight between the pair was marred in controversy as Donovan, who had been deducted points for fouling throughout the fight, scored a solid blow after the bell that floored Crocker, prompting him to be disqualified.

Though ‘The Real Deal’ Donovan had been cruising the fight, his fatal error cost him victory that night, and Crocker’s undefeated record remained intact, by a thread.

With the two facing off for the world title next month, the Chorley man could well be in line to face the winner.

Catterall is unlucky not to have won a title already after his extremely controversial loss to Josh Taylor in his bid for Taylor’s undisputed titles.
