Manny Pacquiao’s likely next opponent revealed as boxing star claims he wants the legend on his resume

Off the back of his spectacular return to boxing over the weekend, Manny Pacquiao has been offered another high-profile outing, with a title up for grabs again.

Making his comeback from a four-year retirement, Pacquiao would force an impressive decision draw against defending champion, Mario Barrios over the course of 12 rounds.

And with his advisers uninterested in booking Pacquiao against Barrios in a rematch — an eye-catching matchup against another welterweight star is potentially on the table next.

Manny Pacquiao backed to fight Rolly Romero in next outing

Any rumors of a re-run between Pacquiao and Barrios have already been dispelled by the Filipino’s adviser, Sean Gibbons — who questioned the star power the WBC welterweight champion actually brings to the table.

As far as his entourage is concerned, too — a host of matchups are on offer to Pacquiao already, including Gervonta Davis, and WBA welterweight champion, Rolly Romero.

“There’s Rolly Romero, ‘Tank’ Davis. Why do it again?” Gibbons told BoxingScene.

“Mario Barrios doesn’t draw anything and brings nothing to the table but that belt. Rolly Romero would be an unbelievably fun fight.

“…If you fight a guy like Rolly, whose feet stay in cement, Manny (Pacquiao) will look vintage.”

And as far as Romero is concerned himself, a showdown with Pacquiao is certainly a pairing he would consider.

Fresh from his dominant upset win over the returning Ryan Garcia, Romero has yet to receive a booking for his return to the squared circle.

But as far as he’s concerned, Romero has no reservations about fighting Pacquiao next — with the goal of fighting a Hall of Fame megastar on offer.

A Hall of Famer on my résumé, who wouldn’t want that,” Romero told BoxingScene. “That’s the easiest way to get into the Hall of Fame, right?”
