Junto Nakatani unified the super-bantamweight world titles with a win over Ryosuke Nishida today in Japan.
Junto Nakatani delivered another exciting fight as he fought a war with game opponent and fellow world champion Ryosuke Nishida.
Nishida was no pushover, but as Nakatani, who bloodied Angel Acosta, had success and Nishida’s eye began to swell, the writing was on the wall for a stoppage victory for the pound-for-pound talent.
Nakatani got the win when his opponent failed to come out of his corner after the sixth round, with Naoya Inoue looking on from ringside, vetting a potential future opponent.

‘It will go down in history’… Fans beg Naoya Inoue to face Junto Nakatani next
Whilst Inoue has a fight lined up with Murodjon Akhmadaliev, it’s possible a fight with Nakatani, who KO’d Andrew Maloney, lands sometime next year, and fans are more than happy with the possibility of such a fight.
Reacting to a post showing Inoue’s appearance ringside for the fight, fans commented on the potential mega-fight.
One wrote: “Naoya Inoue vs. Junto Nakatani, this is going to be an incredible fight! No doubt it will go down in history!”
Another said: “I got Junto stopping Inoue in 6!”
One fan simply said what we’re all thinking: “Make it happen.”
On the undercard of Nakatani vs Nishida, Riku Masuda scored two knockdowns with one punch.
A swollen eye wasn’t the only reason for Ryosuke Nishida’s withdrawal
In another post by The Ring on X, highlighting Nishida’s swollen eye, fans were quick to comment that the eye was not the only reason Nishida was pulled out of the fight by his corner.
They noted that Nishida actually suffered a shoulder injury in the fight, and was unable to continue as it had been dislocated.
A fan summarized: “He is like this in every fight but it turns out Junto had dislocated nishida’s shoulder during clinch by throwing him around. That’s why his corner stopped it. It was shoulder injury.”
