Liam Smith attacks Chris Eubank Jr. for wearing a jacket made with his blood

Chris Eubank Jr. will fight Conor Benn this weekend, but it was a former foe that had some choice words for him after an interesting wardrobe decision.

Chris Eubank Jr. one-upped Gennady Golovkin in his last fight when he beat Kamil Szeremeta, having defeated Liam Smith by stoppage one fight earlier.

Smith became the third man to defeat Eubank, and the first to stop him, in their first fight, but was stopped himself in the rematch.

Ahead of his fight with Benn, Eubank has been gifted a jacket made with the blood-stained ring canvas from his rematch with Smith, and the former foe wasn’t best pleased.

Liam Smith scolds Chris Eubank Jr. over blood-stained jacket

The jacket was presented to Eubank in a clip posted by the Daily Mail, and Eubank is visibly impressed by the creation.

“This is real blood?” He asked.

Eubank Jr., who almost fought Golovkin in 2016, then asked if it was blood or Smith’s, to which those presenting the jacket said: “It’s definitely his.”

Liam Smith, who lost to Canelo, posted about Eubank’s gifted jacket on X, in a post which read:

“F—— hell, didn’t even realise. It’s that big a win, you got a jacket made with my blood on.”

He followed his caption with a clown emoji, maintaining that he is the biggest win of Eubank’s career. He alleged that his leg was injured in the rematch, a contributing factor to his loss.

Smith stopped Eubank in the fourth round of their first encounter. A dazed Eubank was restrained by Team Smith as he attempted to fight on after the referee’s decision.

Liam Smith seeks his first win in over two years against 19-0 prospect

Smith will fight Aaron McKenna, a rising but as of yet unproven prospect, on the undercard of Eubank vs Benn.

McKenna’s last outing saw him stop undefeated Jeovanny Estela in Japan to move to 19-0. He’s won three of his last five fights by knockout, and has 10 stoppage wins overall.

Smith has been inactive lately, having not fought at all in 2024, and losing to Eubank Jr. in the latter half of 2023.

His last win came against Eubank in January 2023. Smith is now 33-4-1.
