Liam Cameron sensationally claims Ben Whittaker ‘faked’ injury in bizarre end to fight

Ben Whittaker was rushed off to hospital shortly after his shocking incident with Liam Cameron on the undercard of Artur Beterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol.

The social media sensation was forced to withdraw from their contest in the fifth round, when he fell backwards out of the ring after Liam Cameron pressed him up against the ropes.

Having seemingly sustained a foot injury, Whittaker was then escorted out of the arena on a wheelchair.

However, Cameron claims that the 27-year-old orchestrated his dramatic exit from the bout, which ended in a controversial draw after going to the judges’ scorecards.

Cameron immediately made a mockery of the pre-fight betting odds, catching his opponent with sharp counters in their opening exchanges.

And while Whittaker seemed to rally back, landing several blistering flurries, it was Cameron who ultimately looked to be in control of the contest.

Feeling aggrieved by the result of their showdown, the 33-year-old then expressed his frustration, accusing his opponent of faking his injury.

“His corner said ‘stay down and pretend you’re hurt’, allegedly,” Cameron told TNT Sports.

Liam Cameron demands rematch with Ben Whittaker

Convinced that he was set to cause a monumental upset, Cameron now looks to run it back with Whittaker, believing that he has the beating of the highly-touted prospect.

Before expressing his desire for a rematch when speaking with TNT Sports, though, the former Commonwealth champion doubled down on his accusations against Whittaker.

“[Whittaker] didn’t want no more,” he told DAZN. “He gave me his last 30 seconds and he had nothing left.

“The kid was knackered from round two. But look, I definitely beat him. 100% [he was looking for a way out], you can see it on camera.”

As of now, there have been no updates regarding the severity of Whittaker’s injury.
